Arrowhead Studios’ new installment has been a rave in the game community in the last couple of weeks. With a peak of 458,709 players online over 8 million copies have been sold as of the 15th of March. Hell Divers II has had a deep impact on the multiplier game community with a 9/10 rating on both Steam and IGN. On 11 February 2024, Arrowhead Games CEO Johan Pilestedt reported that Helldivers 2 had sold around 1 million units.
Helldivers 2 was the biggest launch of any PlayStation Studios game accessible on PC. Arrowhead expressed that the game’s success has significantly surpassed their expectations. Following its initial success, Arrowhead Studios reported its intention to scale its studio and team to quicken its post-launch content plans.
In both the United Kingdom and Europe, Helldivers 2 was the best-selling game of February 2024, the month of its release.
By 24 February 2024, the game was evaluated to have sold over 3 million units and got to be the foremost actively played game on the PlayStation Network, outperforming both Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Fortnite.
Long live the Super Earth
Helldivers 2 takes place in a satirical, futuristic setting in which mankind is ruled by the “Democracy” of the planet Super Earth. Players take the roles of Helldivers, expendable elite soldiers who battle and die to secure the rest of humankind from different enemy factions.
A game full of crazy fun chaos
Agreeing with assistant director Sagar Beroshi, one of the core designers of Helldivers 2 was, in his words, “to be able to play a game with friends that are full of crazy fun chaos”. This design was translated within the game as making players feel like a “humble snort that has been given access to crazy firepower in an insane totalitarian system and is being pointed at a variety of foes“, which Beroshi alluded to as an “in-universe” model versus the design pillar’s “out of the universe” model.
Insane Artwork and Graphical Environment
Hell Divers II’s Artwork has been spectacular, making players ensnared in its world. With variety of well-designed foes from Cyborgs to Terminids and insane graphics on chaotic warfare add more depth to the game which in return has been loved by many gamers and critics around the world. Overall Hell Divers II has been able to surpass its predecessor Hell Divers greatly in every aspect according to my point of view and has a tight grasp on this year’s game of the year while throwing the gauntlet to the upcoming games in 2024.
