Rebecca Grossman, Co-Founder of Grossman Burn Center, Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Killing 2 Boys in Crosswalk

A wealthy California socialite, Rebecca Grossman, co-founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation, has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for a tragic hit-and-run incident that claimed the lives of two young brothers. The incident occurred more than three years ago when Grossman struck and killed Mark Iskander, 11, and his brother Jacob, 8, while they were crossing a crosswalk in the Los Angeles-area city of Westlake Village

The case highlights the grave consequences of irresponsible behavior behind the wheel. Grossman was speeding when she fatally hit the boys, who were innocently crossing the street. The loss devastated their family and the community, prompting Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón to emphasize Grossman’s blatant disregard for human life.

Grossman’s conviction came after a jury found her guilty on two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, and one count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death. Her then-lover, former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Scott Erickson, was driving the car in front of her during the incident but was not charged

During sentencing, the boys’ mother, Nancy Iskander, expressed that Grossman had shown no remorse for killing her two sons. In a letter to the judge, Grossman maintained her innocence, claiming she did not see anyone or anything in the road and would have driven her car into a tree to avoid hitting the boys.

Rebecca Grossman co-founded the Grossman Burn Foundation alongside her husband, Dr. Peter H. Grossman. The philanthropic foundation is associated with the Grossman Burn Centers, which provide critical care for burn victims. The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the devastating impact of reckless actions on innocent lives.

In conclusion, Rebecca Grossman’s sentencing underscores the need for accountability and awareness on the roads. Let us hope that justice brings some comfort to the grieving family and serves as a cautionary tale for all drivers
